Ocean BountyYamba is one of Australia's favourite coastal towns, famous for excellent fishing and a perfect climate year round. Yamba is situated at the mouth of the mighty Clarence River a stone’s throw away from neighbouring Illuka.
The keen angler can choose from a huge range of fishing locations including the deep marina, the estuary, from the flat rocks, sea walls and break waters, casting off from the beach or take a boat out for a deep-sea fishing excursion. Fish species popular in this region are Bream, Blackhead, Groper, Snapper, Flathead and Jewfish.
Yamba is home to one of the largest commercial fishing fleets in New South Wales. Local prawn and fishing boats roll by in the evening, returning at dawn to the marina with their fresh catch of fish and famous Yamba prawns.
Seafood is never hard to come by in Yamba with an eclectic range of sumptuous ocean bounty served fresh daily at one of many restaurants, clubs, cafés or fish and chipperies in the quaint township of Yamba.
Make your way to the Yamba Seafood Expo held annually in October and have a taste of local seafood delicacies such as Yamba Prawns and fresh Wooli Oysters.
